Great Northern Resort
Kids are welcome!
You can't miss driving the Going to the Sun Road through the park. It takes about two hours (one way) to drive the full length of it but trust us, you're going to make lots of stops to take it all in.
Vehicle reservations are required to enter the park from 6am to 3pm if you are entering from the west entrance. A portion of vehicle reservations are available on a daily rolling basis four months in advance. If all permits are already reserved, next day reservations will be available at 7pm MDT for next day entry on a daily rolling basis. Make sure you have a recreation.gov login so you are ready to go! More details here.
Whitewater rafting trips and fishing trips leave right from Great Northern Resort. There are plenty of half day or full day options.
There are dozens of great day hikes within close proximity to Great Northern.
For a beautiful 5-mile hike on the west side of the park that is doable with kids, try Avalanche Lake.
When you visit Logan Pass, don't miss an opportunity to do at least a portion of the Highline Trail. If you are taking kids on this one though, be aware that you will be hiking on a narrow ledge with a steep drop off. A much more accessible hike from Logan Pass is the Hidden Lake Trail.
Lindsey's favorite area in GNP is Many Glacier. If you're able to make it over there and you want recommendations for long day hikes, talk to Lindsey! (Or just go ahead and load the Grinnell Glacier Trail into your All Trails now).
Be bear aware in the park! You will need bear spray if you do any hiking.
